A winter storm watch has been posted for northwestern Nassau County from 7 a.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday.
News 12 Long Island Meteorologist Rich Hoffman is tracking the storm and says rain will begin developing Wednesday morning and will be heavy at times.
Rain is expected to mix with snow after 1 p.m. on the North Shore. Toward the evening, snow will mix with rain and a sloppy evening commute can be expected.
About 2 to 4 inches can be expected for northwestern Nassau County and 1 to 3 inches for the rest of Long Island. The least amount of snow can be expected for the South Shore and East End.
