The large storm system off the coast that brushed Long Island wish some fresh snow on Monday has moved out, but there is some more light snow on the way for Tuesday.
Most areas of the Island saw 2-5 inches of accumulation on Monday, with the lower amounts along the South Shore. The East End saw as much as 6 to 7 inches in some areas.
Overnight low temperatures will cause refreezing on untreated roadways. Drivers are urged to be alert for black ice and to give themselves extra time.
Tuesday will see more snow showers from a separate clipper system starting late in the day, News 12 meteorologists say. That storm will bring some light additional accumulations, possibly totaling another 1-2 inches by early Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will see scattered flurries and highs in the mid-30s, as the scattered snow showers wind down and clear out. Thursday will see a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures holding steady in the mid-30s.
It gets much colder for Friday and Saturday, when highs will top out only in the 20s and lows could reach the single-digits.
