Several motorists in Nassau County woke up Saturday morning to discover their car windows shot out and their vehicles vandalized.
"You wake up in the morning, and your car is destroyed," says Tony Desantis, of Elmont. "It's just really, really upsetting."
The windows of Desantis' SUV were blown out with BB pellets, and one of his tires was slashed. The car of Desantis' neighbor Danielle Albanese was also struck by vandals.
Residents say the perpetrators hit at least 15 cars on three different streets in the neighborhood, leaving the owners to foot the bill for repairs.
Police say the vandals also left a path of destruction in Valley Stream, Franklin Square and New Hyde Park. They say the crime spree began at around 9:30 p.m. Friday and ended early Saturday morning.
