As temperatures heat up, officials in Nassau County are preparing this afternoon.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman says cooling centers will open today at Cantigue and Wantagh parks and a 24-hour cooling center will open at Mitchel Field.
Blakeman says last year the county had 155 heat-related emergency room visits.
They hope to lower that number this year.
Blakeman also says to prepare for any possible power outages.
If there is one, report it to PSEG Long Island.
