The day after his ex-girlfriend accused him of being abusive, the doctor suing his wife for his donated kidney is firing back at the woman.
Pamela Rathburn-Ray, ex-girlfriend of Dr. Richard Batista, says she will testify against him in his divorce case. In a press conference on Tuesday, Rathburn-Ray called Batista physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship 20 years ago.
Batista is in a bitter battle with his wife Dawnell. Last month, he announced he wants the kidney he donated to her back, or the sum of $1.5 million.
Batista and his lawyer say the doctor never touched Rathburn-Ray. Moreover, they say Rathburn-Ray has a drug problem and had her nursing license suspended in 2002 after she stole a doctor?s prescription pad and wrote prescriptions for herself.
?Even if she did have a drug problem back then, does that mean that he gets to beat her up? Smash a woman around? No it doesn't,? Rathburn-Ray?s attorney John Ray says.
John Ray says Batista is suing him for $10 million because of Tuesday?s press conference.
