(11/13/07) HEMPSTEAD ? Franklin Elementary School in Hempstead was in lockdown Tuesday after police say a wanted felon entered the building.
According to police, the incident began with a foot chase involving two men. One of those individuals entered the school building at approximately 11:00 a.m., prompting the lockdown. The lockdown was lifted in the early afternoon.
Police say the two people in custody are wanted for violent crimes, but they would not elaborate on specific details.
There are no reports of injuries.
