A wake was held Friday for the 19-year-old stabbed to death on the University at Buffalo campus.
Tyler Lewis, of Baldwin, was a sophomore at nearby SUNY Buffalo State.
Investigators believe the attack was a targeted act of violence.
Witnesses say Lewis was part of a fight that involved several individuals who knew each other.
Police have not made any arrests.
"There have been no updates just, they have us going around in a circle," says Tiffany Walker, Lewis' aunt. "We're investigating, we're gathering evidence,' but nothing, no updates."
Police say they have identified a person of interest - describing him as a white male, between ages 19 and 22, light brown hair, medium build and approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches in height.
They say the person of interest was wearing a mustard-colored shirt that was covered in blood and he had several cuts on his face, including a large diagonal laceration on his forehead
The victim's aunt says as her family prepares to bury Lewis, they are praying for an arrest.
"We do want justice - it's only right," Walker says.
The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Hempstead.
