A wake was held Wednesday in Centereach for the Suffolk County police officer that was killed in a car crash earlier this week.
Family, friends and fellow officers gathered to pay their respects to Officer Robert Bowen, who lost control of his car and crashed on the Long Island Expressway near exit 58 Monday. Authorities say Bowen was off duty when his car hit a guardrail and flipped over.
The 34-year-old officer was also a Marine reservist who served in Iraq. He leaves behind a wife and an 18-month-old daughter.
