Orange County is seeing a large voter turnout this Election Day as officials say polling places see an influx of people casting their ballots.
One of the county’s busiest locations is the Highland Engine Company on Quaker Avenue in Cornwall which had a line at one point to get in.
Orange County Board of Election Commissioners Louise Vandemark and Courtney Canfield tell News 12 that 30,000 people in Orange County voted by late morning. They say early voting this year also saw record numbers in the county, which might be an indication of the overall voter turnout on Election Day.
Voters News 12 spoke to say they’re excited and anxious for the results.
“This is the most important election in years,” says Augie Guerriero, from Cornwall.
Cornwall Supervisor Josh Wojehowski says the town has seen a steady stream of voters at their polling sites since the polls opened and expects it to continue all day.
Orange County has 95 polling places countywide.
“Glad it’s almost over,” says resident Linda Fowler. “Now, we just wait and pray.”
