Volunteers in Nesconset Monday gave back to veterans and their four-legged companions.
Paws of War hosted a Veteran Appreciation Grooming Day Monday morning.
Staff from Mel's Grooming in Ronkonkoma volunteered to shampoo, clip nails and groom disabled veterans' support animals.
Organizers say the dogs received treatment they haven't been able to get during the pandemic.
"A lot of these dogs are going to need special treatments, special shampoos. They have some sort of skin issues, fleas, you name it. They need to get treated here, get their nails cut, it's going to make a big improvement in their life," said Robert Misser, Paws of War cofounder.
Veterans were treated to lunch while their dogs were pampered.
