Gun crimes are on the rise in Suffolk County.
Newsday reports that in the first six months of the year, fatal shootings more than tripled.
The number of violent crimes involving a firearm were up more than 30 percent in the county.
Despite the spike in Suffolk, Nassau police say they've seen a nearly 25 percent drop in violent gun crimes during the same time period.
