Police were called to Hempstead High School Monday after violence broke out among students for the second straight day.
Classes were let out early Friday and Monday as a result of the brawls.
Students say the fights have been a racially-motivated conflict between the school's black and Hispanic populations.
Police have two permanent officers stationed at the school. Extra patrols will be on hand Tuesday and classes are slated to begin as usual.
A special faculty meeting was held to address the fighting. School administrators are also reaching out to community leaders to stem the violence.
