Residents headed to the polls Wednesday to cast votes in village elections around Long Island.
Polls closed across the Island at 9 p.m.
Elections were held in 40 villages. Of those, there were six contested mayoral races in Freeport, Hempstead, Plandome Manor, Sea Cliff, Westbury and Amityville. In addition, there were eight total contested trustee races and two contested justice races.
