A woman in Valley Stream was without heat for 24 hours before National Grid came to turn it back on.
Dionne Johnson says she found a note from National Grid on her front door when she got home from work at around 8 p.m. on Friday. The note explained that her gas had been turned off for maintenance.
The note included a number for Johnson to call so that the service could be restored at her convenience. When she called, National Grid said they would have someone at the home by 12:30 a.m. early Saturday morning.
Johnson says she did not feel comfortable letting someone in her home that late at night, so she called back at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. She was told that a National Grid crew member would be there by midnight.
The gas was restored Johnson's at 8 p.m. on Saturday night.
A National Grid spokesperson tells News 12 that Johnson was on their schedule, but they had been busy because of the freezing temperatures.
