STORM WATCH: Nor'easter moving away; minor coastal flooding and rain this morning with improving conditions this afternoon

Our nor’easter will slowly pull away from Long Island today, and conditions will gradually improve over the next 24 hours. We’re not completely finished with the storm just yet. Leftover rain showers slowly taper off towards this evening. Have the umbrella handy. Highs will be 60 to 65, still cooler than average.
We’re also continuing to monitor coastal flooding around Long Island. A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through 2 p.m., so watch for water on some vulnerable shoreline roads and in low-lying areas around the times of high tide. Give yourself some extra time if you’re traveling through flood-prone communities, and never drive through a flooded roadway.
Conditions will gradually improve this afternoon as the steadier rain moves away. We’ll keep plenty of clouds around, along with a few leftover showers. Winds won’t be too bad, generally around 10 to 20 mph, as the nor’easter continues to move farther away from Long Island.
Tonight brings much quieter weather with mostly cloudy skies and lows in the 50s. Then we finally get some sunshine back Tuesday! Look for partly sunny skies with temperatures warming into the upper 60s to lower 70s.
And the rest of the week is looking great. Wednesday brings sun and clouds with highs of 70 to 75 degrees. Thursday stays sunny with temperatures near 75, and Friday also looks dry and sunny with highs in the 70s. After the rain, wind and coastal flooding, we have a much quieter and brighter stretch of weather ahead.
