Uniondale High School students organized a walkout Wednesday following what they say were security measures taken too far.
They say they had to wait on long lines to get into the school building after a student concealed a knife under her laptop and injured two classmates.
The school has always had metal detectors, but students say their belongings were searched more thoroughly after the attack.
"They make us scan our IDs first, and if you don't have it, you have to wait on a longer line to put it in manually," says Marjorie Martinez. "And then we have to put our bags in, make sure our phones aren't in there, make sure we don't have anything in our bags."
