Two more people have fallen through the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) platform gaps.
The first incident Wednesday was at the New Hyde Park station. LIRR officials say a 62-year-old woman was exiting an eastbound train when she tripped and fell in the gap. The woman cut her leg and twisted an ankle, but declined medical treatment.
The second incident occurred at the Shea Stadium station after the Mets game. LIRR officials say after a man helped his family onto the train, he fell through the gap. According to authorities, the man?s entire body went into the gap, but he also refused medical treatment.
So far, five people have fallen through the gaps in less than two months. The LIRR says signs are posted about the gaps and it is currently working on adjusting the platforms.
