Two dogs have died in a fire that broke out in North Bellmore.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office tells News 12 that the fire occurred around 6 p.m. in the basement level of a two-story private house on Sacco Place in North Bellmore.

Around 100 firefighters responded to the scene. Two firefighters fell through a hole on the first floor, suffering minor injuries. Another firefighter sustained an ankle injury.

The fire marshal says the Red Cross was requested to help a displaced family of two adults and five children.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal and Police Arson/Bomb Squad.

The fire marshal says the fire is not considered suspicious and a dryer is being considered as a potential cause of the fire.
