Two people have been arrested in Monday night's killing of a teen driver who was shot dead in Holbrook.
Suffolk police arrested Brian Rivera and Russell Cronin, both 18. Prosecutors charged the two suspects in Central Islip Wednesday with second-degree murder. Rivera's lawyer says neither suspect pulled the trigger. He says more people were in the car and it is possible more than one vehicle was chasing the victim. Police spokespeople neither confirmed nor denied searching for additional suspects.
Eighteen-year-old Thomas Herzberg was found with a bullet in his head after crashing his rented Jeep into the woods. Suffolk County police say they received a brief 911 call earlier from a passenger in the Jeep who said someone in another car was firing shots at them during a chase. Herzberg was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger wasn't injured.
