Off-duty Nassau County officer arrested for DWI in wrong-way crash with garbage truck that injured 3

An off-duty Nassau County police officer from Huntington Station was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a wrong-way crash into a garbage truck that injured three others early Friday morning.

Dominick Milazzo, 31, was driving a 2024 Ford Bronco northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 135 when he struck a garbage truck near Exit 4 in Seaford at 4:44 a.m., according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Milazzo, an NCPD officer, was driving his personal vehicle at the time of the crash. He was arrested at the site of the crash without incident and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The occupants of the garbage truck, ages 56, 31 and 19, were also transported to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

News 12 received video from the scene of the crash with a passerby surveying the damage and asking if Milazzo drove the wrong way.

Milazzo is charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned when medically practical.
