Police are searching for the suspect who stole turtles, a chicken and hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from a West Islip pet shop earlier this week.
William Niehoff, the owner of B.T.J.'s Jungle on Sunrise Highway, says he noticed on Monday that his turtles were missing. When he learned the reptiles hadn't been sold, he checked his surveillance video and saw that they were taken from the store at around 5 a.m. that day.
Niehoff says the thief also took a chicken from the store, as well as $1,000 in merchandise.
Based on the security footage, the suspect appears to be a male in his 20s with a dark patch of hair and shaved sides.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
