As Brookhaven Town Supervisor Brian Foley (D) seeks to unseat Republican state Sen. Caesar Trunzo in the hotly contested 3rd District race, both are using every last minute to stump for votes.
Foley has gained ground with new polling numbers showing him with a 22-point lead over Trunzo, up from a September poll that had Trunzo leading Foley by 6 points.
?The numbers show we're running a very strong race, that our message of change and reform is resonating with voters,? Foley says. ?And our momentum is growing stronger and stronger every day.?
?I know there?s another poll that says I'm in the lead by 8 or 9 points, so I guess tomorrow night will be the real thing,? Trunzo says.
The race is one of many that will decide whether state Republicans hold on to the Senate majority they've held for 43 years. Trunzo credits his party?s Republican majority with bringing state money to Long Island. Democrats claim that if they win, suburban issues will be at the top of Albany's agenda.
