Parents of children with food allergies were in Lynbrook Saturday for some Halloween fun.
Children who attended the "Trunk or Treat" event went from car to car collecting things like stickers, pencils and other goodies. It's an alternative to going trick-or-treating on Halloween for candy that could cause dangerous reactions.
The event was founded by a Lynbrook mom who lost her 14-year-old son three years ago. He had eaten something he didn't know contained peanuts and had a deadly allergic reaction.
The boy's mother says Halloween is a dangerous time for children with allergies, because not all ingredients are listed on some types of candy.
Organizers say the event offers families a safe and fun Halloween alternative.
