Donald Trump is vowing to continue his fight after a state board denied him and his partner a variance to build a basement for their proposed Jones Beach restaurant and catering hall.
Trump attorney Steven Schlesinger says lawsuits against the state will be filed within days. He says Trump and partner Steve Carl will sue the state parks department for damages and the New York Department of State for issuing the decision.
After seven hours of heated public testimony and discussion Tuesday, the board voted against issuing a permit 4-1. As the project now hangs in the balance, Trump says the panel?s decision breaks the long-term contract he had with the state.
In a statement, Trump emphasized that Trump on the Ocean would have been a great asset to New York and the Jones Beach area. ?Unfortunately, instead of investing my money on contractors and brick and mortar, I must sadly be investing the money on legal fees and lawyers,? Trump says.
