Tropical Storm Beryl may have not have busted up inland Long Island, but the storm did damage south shore beaches.
While Beryl passed without major power outages, the storm?s surges brushed dune lines at many beaches, including Robert Moses and Montauk, causing sand loss and pooling water. Beachgoers say the erosion is obvious and that parts of the beach look shrunken.
Parks department official George Gorman says the beaches will stay open and are overall in good shape, but added the hurricane season isn?t over yet.
