Trenton police officer shot and recovering at hospital, authorities say

The Trenton Police Department told News 12 the investigation is being conducted by New Jersey State Police. They called the unnamed officer's injury "not life threatening."

A Trenton police officer was injured in a shooting Saturday night.

In a Facebook post, the New Jersey State PBA said the officer was shot "at around 9 p.m. on Perry Street. He was rushed to the hospital and is recovering this morning."

The Trenton Police Department told News 12 the investigation is being conducted by New Jersey State Police. They called the unnamed officer's injury "not life threatening."

Details surrounding the incident have not yet been released. The Facebook post said the officer was "just protecting his community when he came under attack."
