Hundreds of trees that were removed after being infested with an invasive species of beetles are being replaced.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation says it will receive $1 million from the federal government to replace trees that were ravaged by the Asian long-horned beetle.
The trees were removed in and around the Babylon area.
Officials say that the only way to handle the beetles is to remove them because there is no good chemical or natural predator to combat them.
Babylon residents who think beetles might be destroying their trees are asked to call the town's Department of Environmental Control at 631-422-7640.
