Lines were long at LaGuardia Airport's security checkpoints on Wednesday, one of the busiest traveling days of the year.
On Monday, the State Department issued a rare worldwide travel alert following several terror attacks overseas.
President Barack Obama addressed the threats during an address Wednesday morning, stating that there is currently no specific threat to U.S. travelers.
"Be vigilant. If you see something suspicious, say something. That's always helpful," said the president. "Otherwise, Americans should go about their usual Thanksgiving weekend activities."
The travel alert will remain in effect through Feb. 26.
