The LIRR was back on schedule Monday night following morning rush disruptions due to track problems.
Broken and misaligned rails led to the delays. Trains were delayed up to 108 minutes on the Montauk branch and 10 minutes on the Babylon branch.
The LIRR says it is investigating what caused the issues. Peter Haynes, of the LIRR Commuters Campaign, says that it's evidence of a larger problem.
"They keep saying every move they make it's going to improve reliability... well where's the improvement?" asks Haynes.
Haynes also says there is a disconnect in communication between LIRR and commuters.
News 12 Long Island's Darius Radzius found conflicting information on the LIRR's electronic signs and website regarding delays on Monday. LIRR spokesperson Aaron Donovan says the website was accurate because trains still making their ways to the city were still delayed. Donovan also says the LIRR puts out as much information as possible during problems.
