The holidays will be a bit brighter for hundreds of Long Island kids in need.
The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive is expected to bring in thousands of toys for the holiday season.
The Nassau County Police Department contributes to the event every year with donations, a helicopter flyover and a police escort from Glen Cove to Eisenhower Park.
Donated toys were loaded onto trucks in East Meadow Sunday to be sent to kids all over the country. The event also brought in toys specifically made for children with special needs.
Participants like Gil Guevara say the annual charity event are part of the spirit of the season.
"People that are less fortunate, we have to give back to them," Guevara says. "If I have it, I have to give back. It's just a good feeling."
