Town of Brookhaven officials unveiled a plan to restore and revitalize areas of Portion Road in Farmingville.
Town Councilman Kevin LaValle said part of the plan includes renovating Triangle Park on Portion Road. He said the town also plans to work with business owners on ways to make Portion Road more aesthetically pleasing.
There is also a plan to build a mixed-use development on a 65-acre lot just east of Waverly Avenue. The development will include 241 condos, 51 single homes, and retail and open space. LaValle said the hope is to draw more young people to the area as well as help older residents remain on Long Island.
In addition, the town wants to fix up the intersection of Horseblock Road and County Road 83. An LA Fitness and restaurant is set to move into that location.
Some residents are thrilled to hear about the plans, while others who live near the proposed mixed-use development are not as happy.
