Officials on Long Island are concerned Friday that Tropical Storm Ernesto may cause more erosion problems for sensitive shorelines like Babylon's Gilgo Beach.
High winds and heavy rains are expected to lash the Island on Friday and Saturday. Gil Hanse, with the town of Babylon, says it?s estimated Gilgo Beach could lose three to five feet of sand. Hanse says Gilgo could be the hardest hit because of its location in the shadow of the Fire Island Inlet.
Town officials say they are working to secure funding to try and replenish the beach sometime this year.
