Many Long Island drivers have been dealing with countless amounts of deep potholes across the area.
Mechanics tell News 12 the roadway craters could cost drivers hundreds of dollars in repairs. However, they can also be dangerous when drivers swerve to avoid them.
Safety experts say instead of swerving, drivers should slow down as they go over potholes. They should take care not to tailgate other drivers, and keep tires filled with the proper amount of air.
Hempstead officials announced today that they are dedicating more crews and resources to tackle the town's pothole problems.
