Town of Brookhaven says statues of controversial historical figures are welcome
Some new statues could soon be seen around the Town of Brookhaven.
It comes following a proposed bill from New York City to remove any artwork featuring figures with controversial pasts.
The Town of Brookhaven tells News 12 that the statues that honor people like George Washington and Christopher Columbus are welcome in the town.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Edward Romaine says while some consider the historical figures controversial, their accomplishments are important to the community.
