The Town of Babylon is hoping to limit the number of garage sales residents can have through a proposed ordinance.
Under the proposal, a home can have two garage sales each year. The proposal also requires a permit to do so.
Supporters of the legislation say they are not trying to hurt residents' ability to sell unwanted items, but rather reign in the residents who are having too many garage sales.
Councilman Tom Donnelly says the town has received dozens of complaints about recurring garage sales at homes around Bablyon.
Babylon officials say the proposed ordinance is still being discussed, and is similar to one already in place in the Town of Islip.
