Police say a Shirley toddler is safe after apparently leaving her home in the middle of the night.

A 911 caller reported that a 23-month-old girl was found at the Carvel ice cream shop located on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley at around 12:30 a.m.

Police and K-9 units were able to quickly track the path back to the child's home, located on Stuart Road in Shirley.

Police say there was no criminality and the child was returned to a parent.
