Saturday's snowfall set a spectacular backdrop for a heartwarming holiday tradition on Fire Island.

Santa Claus arrived at the Fire Island Lighthouse to greet families and listen to the Christmas wishlists of local children.

The tradition dates back to 1953, when a lighthouse keeper lived there with his family, but there were no bridges to reach the area during the holidays. A flying Santa dropped off presents for the family instead.

Now, children from all over Long Island get to enjoy the jolly man's company at the lighthouse.
