One of the biggest holiday parties on the East End kicked off Saturday night, culminating in the lighting of the Montauk Lighthouse.
Despite gloomy weather, thousands gathered together to watch the eighth annual lighting of New York's oldest lighthouse.
"We thought since New York City has the Rockefeller tree, we could one-up them," said Joe Gaviola, of the Montauk Committee.
The Gosman Family, owners of some of the oldest businesses in Montauk, were this year's special honorees and flipped the switch to turn the lights on.
The event featured music, dancing and, of course, Santa Claus.
The lighthouse will be lit up every evening until Jan. 4.
