A holiday tradition lit up the night in Malverne on Saturday.
Residents have been coming together to light the Christmas tree in the heart of Malverne Village for more than 25 years.
The "Lighting of Malverne," as it's called, kicked off with a parade featuring Santa himself.
It was a chilly evening, but some onlookers stayed warm by roasting marshmallows over fire barrels right on Hempstead Avenue.
The village event was also attended by many residents from neighboring Valley Stream, Lakeview, West Hempstead, and Franklin Square communities as well.
