The passport backlog has been an issue for travelers this summer, and one travel expert and award-winning travel writer wants to make sure you don't run into those passport problems.
Sarah Greaves-Gabbadon, or @JetSetSarah as she is known to her thousands of followers, is a travel expert and shared with News 12 her advice to work around this issue.
She says first, find your passport and make sure it hasn't expired. "Even if it hasn't expired, here is a tip, a lot of places that you go to are going to want your passport to be valid for at least three to six months after you arrive," she says.
Greaves-Gabbadon recently had to get her passport quickly. Because she had travel booked within two weeks, she was able to call the national number and book an appointment.  She says there are two circumstances in which you can do this.
"If you have emergency travel, like a death in the family or if you have travel that is booked, if you have a reservation or a ticket for within two weeks, then you call a national number and you try to get an appointment at a passport office," she says.
JetSetSarah says you should also be open to where you will go for that appointment so you can get it done on time.
