A quick update on our storm issues across Long Island. So this is what's happening as of right now. We're still dealing with that system that's been bringing an abundance of rain and now it is the winds that is going to be the double whammy or even the second issue for us as we continue throughout the rest of our Sunday nights into our Monday morning. Now, a lot of that heavy rainfall has been moving quickly, but now it's impacting much more of Suffolk County over towards Port Jefferson and over towards Islip and our Twin Forks areas as well. We are still potentially gonna be looking at more rounds of heavy rainfall to be impacting Nassau County in the western end of Suffolk County as we get into the rest of tonight. So again, just make sure that you, if you are gonna be out for tonight or even heading into tomorrow morning, you're planning ahead because things are gonna get a bit not only wet but still gonna be a bit messy as we start off our Monday morning. So make sure you plan ahead and leave a bit early if you need to. Now for western side of Suffolk County and for Nassau County, we do have a flooded are in effect until we get into just a few minutes past midnight for us, for tonight. But if we continue to see the heavy rainfall, we could see that extended as a possibility. So it's one thing where we are going to be monitoring here at the storm watch news, 12 weather team. But until then, here's also what we're looking at as of right now. So wind speeds are really starting to pick up, especially along the South shore, near 40 MPH wind gusts as of right now. And then the rain again, we're gonna be looking at another potential round of heavy rainfall for the next several hours going into our early Monday morning, not until about close to sunrise when we start to see that rain really lose its intensity and just become light rainfall going into our Monday morning. So once we're heading out, it's still gonna be a bit of the wet side for us, but still be mindful of wet roads, flooded areas as well because even for earlier, for today, as if you were going to be traveling on the lie, it's still gonna be a bit of a mess because we're not gonna be looking at this rain to really end for us until we toward late Monday morning and early afternoon. But right behind it, we're still gonna be dealing with some windy conditions. So overnight, we could be seeing again wind speeds, clocking from 42 near 60 MPH for some areas, mainly along the South shore, the northern shore areas. We are gonna be seeing the winds not being as strong, but still could be a bit of an issue, especially as we get into our Monday afternoon where we are anticipating a once again windy day for our Monday. So taking a look at how much rain we could be seeing from the rest of this event. Nassau County. Not as much unless it's closer towards the Suffolk County area, uh, near Hicksville, which would be close to about two inches. But overall, we could still see three inches of rainfall for some areas as well. A quick look at our 10 day forecast. Once we're done with our storm watch for Monday morning, we're looking at smooth sailing for the next couple of days.

And new right now as expected, former President Donald Trump has announced his 2024 campaign for president. The decline of America is being forced upon us by biden and the radical left lunatics running our government right into the ground. This decline is not a fate we must accept in order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States. Alright trump officially filed his third presidential bid with the Federal Elections Commission and the former president hoping to become just the second president in american history to serve two nonconsecutive terms in office but he will face some challenges within his own party. Um Sure joining us now remotely peter king, a former congressman from C for the republicans served in the house under four presidents including Donald trump before retiring in 2020 congressman King appreciate your time tonight. So it's always great being with you. It really is. And again it is historic time but I think it's time for a change. Okay, I was gonna ask you your reaction to his announcement first of all. How about that and how he handled it and delivered himself tonight actually it was a different type of donald trump. He stayed on script. I think his advisers must have told him not to ramble on, you know go off script. So he basically but he also said nothing new that he hasn't said over the last four years. Listen, my my feeling on Donald trump is I support him as president uh On January six I thought he failed in his obligations, but especially during the last campaign where he spent more time attacking other Republicans. One thing talking about himself attacking other Republicans and as a result of that he became the face of the party. And that's why I believe we didn't do much better in the elections than we should have. All right now with all due respect, you don't have to face any retribution from Mr Trump other Republicans in office. Do do you think people will be as blunt and as outspoken as you were? I think they will be as time goes on because I think that the act is starting to wear thin and we do have other candidates out there. I think we have much better candidates now that we have several years ago. People like Ron de Santis, mike pence tim scott, Nikki Haley, mike Pompeo, all of them are first class top tier candidates. And if one or two of them get together, I think that they know they can win. Listen, I never sell donald trump short. He he started the world five years ago, six years ago, he did what had to be done then to get elected. I don't think he could do it again. And I think also he has created a lot of animosity within the republican party. If you talk to people off the record behind the scenes, they will tell you they wish he was not running or certainly they wish he could have timed differently than right now. Wait a while, but you know what it does settled from the election? But Georgia, uh uh you know, the type of person is he's got to be center stage, he's got to be front and center and I think people are starting to get tired of that. Yeah, this has the potential be very divisive for your party. Uh no love loss between him and de Santis. You mentioned mike pence someone I'm sure gets under his skin as well. The thought of him challenging him. Are you concerned that that a big mess is made? And also it's been talked about that he could potentially if he wants to get nasty launch a third party, but if he doesn't get the GOP nomination. Yeah, I mean all those are threats. That's why I believe that it's uh there are gonna be primaries. I hope they can be resolved early. And I think the longer it goes on the more effect donald trump will lose. But you know, listen, I can be a one man wrecking crew. That's the reality. But I think he has personally against donald trump personally. He and I at least we did it until now. I have no personal problem with him. But I just think that for the good of the party and the good of the country, we have to turn the page. Other good candidate, great candidates out there a few seconds left. Just want to get your thoughts on what's going on down in Washington with the House. Uh Kevin McCarthy, Do you think he ends up being the majority leader, Speaker of the House? Yeah, he should be the speaker of the House. Uh Kevin. Uh Listen, he, over the last three cycles where he's been the head of the party, We've gained seats each time, and Kevin can bring it together, I believe. Also steve Scalise majority leader and I'm really happy about those. We have been a four members of Congress from Long Island who can really be the balance of power for Republican members of Congress in the majority party who without them, there wouldn't be majority. They are in a unique position of power that we never really had on Long Island before. Yeah, that's it. Who thought like Long Island would would play so much into the role there. But good point.
