Suffolk County swore in its new police commissioner Thursday afternoon.
Tim Sini was sworn in as the department's top administrator at the Police Academy in Brentwood.
"We live in a very safe county, but there is still a lot of work to do, both in terms of crime fighting and making the department more efficient and effective," Sini said.
Sini was confirmed as commissioner by the Suffolk County Legislature last month. He served as deputy commissioner last year.
The 35-year-old former federal prosecutor was nominated as police commissioner in November.
