Officials say if you are heading to Manhattan for the big celebration tonight to expect tight security.
Police will be halting traffic starting around noon today.
All bags will be checked and alcohol is not permitted in the area.
NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says there will also be security overhead with police helicopters on patrol.
About 1 million people are expected to turn out in Times Square to ring in 2014.
