State officials say three new coronavirus vaccine sites will soon open on Long Island.
The state will be opening facilities at SUNY OLD Westbury, Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, and the SUNY Stony Brook Southampton Campus.
Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman says this is exciting news, because existing vaccination sites like Jones Beach are too far away.
"Now this is going to open up all new appointments, so I'm really hopeful that some of the people who have been struggling to get an appointment anywhere are now going to be able to get an appointment close to home that's great," says Schneiderman.
The final details, like information about scheduling appointments and hours of operation will be released in the coming days.
