A Huntington man ended up at the bottom of his home?s cesspool Sunday morning, which apparently collapsed because of all the rain. Andrew Palladino, 71, says he went out to get the paper when the ground gave way. He called for his wife, who got their son to come help. A neighbor heard the noise and came over to offer a hand until help arrived. The ground collapsed further, sending the son and neighbor into the cesspool. Emergency workers were able to secure the ground and tie a rope around the victims and pull them out. They were covered in raw sewage, but otherwise unhurt. Officials credit the quick thinking of the family in averting a tragedy.
