An arrest has been made in the 2011 murder of an Islip teen.

After two years and a lengthy investigation, 21-year-old Thomas Liming, of Islip, surrendered to authorities Friday. He has been charged in the death of former classmate Kyle Underhill, who was 18 at the time.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. Authorities say Underhill's battered body was found in a creek off of Brook Street in Islip on Nov. 19, 2011, three days after he was reported missing.

The medical examiner's office says Underhill was still alive when he was put in the creek with a board over his body.

Police have not released details on a possible motive in the slaying.

Liming, who attended Islip High School with Underhill, surrendered at a Riverhead courthouse this morning. He was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge.

Liming is beind held on $5 million cash bail and is due back in court on Jan. 3.
