State police proudly increased their ranks Wednesday afternoon.
Gov. Kathy Hochul welcomed the newest graduates of the State Police Academy. The latest class brings on 218 troopers.
The new members were honored for their perseverance and dedication in completing their training, which focused on defensive tactics, first responder training and crisis intervention.
“You are ready for this, you are so ready. This is your calling, you answered when so few are willing to, and that is extraordinary,” says Hochul.
Hochul also honored fallen police Capt. Christopher Garrow. The 23-year NYUPD veteran died this week from an illness related to his efforts at ground zero on 9/11. He was 47.
