A holiday tradition gave friends and family a chance help others as they got together for a game of football in Greenlawn Thursday.
Participants in the annual Turkey Bowl at Fraser Park were all asked to bring in a pair of gently used shoes for donation to Shoes For All, a charitable group that supplies footwear to the needy.
About 35 friends, both old and new, ranging in age from fifth-graders to adults in their 40s, braved the winter chill and occasional snow flurries to pass the pigskin.
The sneakers will be delivered next week.
