Customers lined the block in Fordham on Wednesday after they say many are being turned away and wait times on line last for hours at NYCHA's Customer Contact Center.
Although NYCHA tells News 12 appointments are recommended, residents say NYCHA's point of direction has been misleading.
"When you come here, you get to the door and security says, 'Sorry, unless you have an appointment. They hand you a paper to call a number, which is the number that you call the tells you that you can come without an appointment and everybody standing here," a resident on line on Wednesday tells News 12.
This is the second time in just two weeks that News 12 was notified about this line confusion. NYCHA has not directly answered News 12's questions about the center not letting people in.
A source within the agency has told News 12 they recommend their customers to make an appointment if they want to avoid a long wait.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA again after these latest complaints. NYCHA tells News 12 they will update the posted signs to accurately reflect this policy.
