Residents of a Rockville Centre apartment complex called for heightened security Thursday after another late-night shooting.
A female resident of the Rockville Centre Housing Authority, who wished to remain anonymous, said she woke up around 2 a.m. to the sound of gunfire. The woman said she sleeps on the floor with her daughter because of recent shootings in the area.
Windows were shot out at three apartments in the latest incident.
"My fear is that one of our children are gonna die if somebody doesn't do something about this," she said.
Despite the rise in violent activity, the complex does not have security guards and the surveillance cameras are broken. John Duenges, an official with the Housing Authority, said there isn't enough money for guards, but the cameras could be fixed by June.
